Recently, I kissed goodbye to the last drops of my usual Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer and was in need of a replacement post-haste. Particularly as I was is the midst of the most dreadful breakout. My skin was resembling the surface of the moon, little green men and all! A rush trip to Myer saw me walking out with the Clarins Instant Beauty Kit. Admittedly more than I needed, but the value was just much too much to resist.
Included in the kit is: an adorable small red cos case, perfect for weekends away; a full size Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch primer; full size Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector; sample sized Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate; and sample Instant Light Brush-On Perfector concealer in the shade #02. Having no use for the Line Correcting Concentrate I passed it off to my mother. Mum was also the lucky recipient of the Brush-On Perfector sample (a real favourite of mine, although I use the shade #01), leaving the primer and gloss pour moi.
Clarins Perfecting Touch is a silky, silicone based primer that glides over skin to create a flawless base. It blurs imperfections and ensures foundations last and last. (Although, I still feel the need to powder my t-zone late in the day.) Its thicker texture means it smooths and improves the appearance of bumpy acne, even before applying foundation. In that respect, I find it to be better than the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, but feel Clarins’ packaging lets it down. Although the jar is an adorable addition to any vanity, it won’t remain terribly hygienic over time. It does come with an itty spatula, but let’s be real, who’s going to use it? Also, Perfecting Touch lacks an SPF component that is a feature of the Hourglass Primer.
After seeing Kate over at gh0stparties rave about the Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfectors (going so far as to call them her ‘all time favourite lip glosses’!) I was totally stoked to see a full size Lip Perfector in the shade #06 Rosewood included in the Instant Beauty Kit. The gloss has a sweet caramel scent, isn’t tacky and adds a subtle hint of colour. Rosewood is a warm rosy shade with a very feint golden shimmer to it. (All this talk of Rosewood is making me keen for the next PLL episode.) The gloss itself feels amazing on. It’s very comforting and nourishing on sad, dry lips and has taken up permanent residency in my handbag. Rosewood’s ability to compliment any make up look makes it perfect for grab and go applications. In fact, I’m looking forward to adding a few more shades to my collection.
At $50 Clarins Instant Beauty Kit is excellent value for money. The Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch retails regularly for $38 and the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector for $26. So, when you throw in an additional two products and an adorable cos case into the mix it’s a seriously hard offer to pass up. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to track this kit down online. So, you may have to head in store to snag this bargain.
